When I was a kid I delivered newspapers for a buck or two. There was this dog that always barked, no mater what. One time I was stressed out about something (I cant even remember what it was) and I was praying constantly for Jehovah’s help. Well I was praying while on my route and I asked Jehovah to send me a sign. I actually asked that if he was listening to my prayers to let me know by silencing the dog. Sure enough, the dog didn’t bark that day. I was convinced that this was all the proof that I needed to reassure me that the almighty creator had my back.

I think those of us who leave are special in many ways
by JustTickledPink ini had the opportunity to have lunch with an old jw friend of mine recently.
it was quite surreal.
i have forgotten the absolute depression and control they feel.. whereas i am happily yacking away about the improvements in my life, college, job, etc... happy marriage, going on vacation ... blah blah blah.. she says how she's still married but unhappily but she is waiting on the 'new system' and sorta chatters on about how 'bad' this system is getting, etc.

I also feel very strongly that we (ex-jw’s) are a special group. Unless you have been in a similar situation you cannot appreciate the freedom one feels when the chains are broken. I’ve talked to co-workers at times regarding the WTBTS’s doctrinal changes and they just look at me like “so what”. They obviously have no concept of what its like to have every aspect of your life controlled by the FDSC.

Now that is just sad. Not only is this poor impressionable kid growing up and learning “truth” from a destructive cult but now his hanky pick up line that worked so well at the local district convention is under attack by a group of apostates at an apostate message board.
Yes, this is indeed funny.

The more the rank and file educate themselves the weaker the grip of the WTBTS becomes. I know that when I was college age they discouraged it while a few years later several of the elder’s sons are suddenly getting a college education.
My guess is that they see numbers fall and decide to put a halt to it.

by JH in.
they don't phone and don't come over.

Ive had an elder of my ol congregation stop by with his wife when I've been displaying my flag. Im sure they noticed that.
It's one of those things, you dont realy want them around untill you learn some new information like the UN scandal and then you cant wait to talk to them.

I haven’t read the bible for years until recently. I’ve been doing a little research here and there and in discussing this with a co-worker he went out and bought me a NLT (life application study bible). It’s a beautiful book with all kinds of extras. I decided that I would read it through from cover to cover. Currently I’m just starting Leviticus but I don’t have a rigid schedule or any thing that I’m holding myself to. Just a chapter here or there in the evening before bed when in the mood. I use it more for reference and to compare with the on line version of the NWT. Although I should be careful there because they’ve probably made changes to it as well since I’ve been away.

The 1914 Doctrine and The Threat of the Egibi Business Tablets
by VM44 incould the watchtower and the jehovah's witnesses survive the discarding of their 1914 doctrine?
the doctrine that in 1914 the end of the gentile times took place, jesus took up rule in heaven.
for some reason the jws think the outbreak of world war i in 1914 is proof their prophetic calculations were correct.

I can hear the announcement now…"this year produced a modest increase of 1.5% of baptized publishers, the printing of The Watchtower publication is at an all time high, (quickly muttered under breath) the 1914 generation doctrine is now old light, and the congregation picnic this Sunday has been moved from 2:00 to 3:30. Lets all raise for song number 69.
Go back to sleep.
